Last blog for a semester.. :(

Wow! Time went fast than I thought. I remember I have to type 18 blogs at beginning. Do I will be crazy and spend on the blog on lot of the time? I am survivor that I did do all post without missing or late post. I can see i have lot of analyzing on the blog. I looked at my past blog that it was lot of summary and not meet teacher want. Most time, I wrote about deaf culture to the story and obsession about deaf. Until Sharon said not have to always focus on deaf, just analyzed why author want to tell us and why she/he wrote the story and lesson for us. As they are leaving home, i am leaving home for a while. It is perfect choice for new freshman can understand them that some author or fiction person miss their home and culture. Their life changed when they leaved. I do change my life because i don’t live with my parents anymore but only during vacation.

I don’t feel a heisted when start to make new blog or don’t know how to do it. I had very old blog. I was having GreatestJournal.com blog when I was freshman. I never checked it until last week. I was surpised that last time I post it when I was junior. It have only 20 blogs for three years. You already see my other website as vlog on very first post. It is call video blog. My sister and I do disscued on vlog and talk everything what I want to talk about as this blog. I hope I can make new vlog and blog for rest of year. Recently I made new blog because this blog was influence on me to write more blogs for myself. To analyze on different websites what I found is in my new blog. It is just personality and fun to do.

Leaving home is great idea but some short story is suck as “Recitaf” or else that you was struggle to understand their story talk about. It is perfect to look it more than reall all novel that I will forget the beginning. Short story remind me a minute to remember what it talk. I have no problem with it. ☺ I know sometime I am not good at create the question for this story because I understand but I don’t have to think the 5 “W” as Why, what, where, who, and how. I always tried my best to do it.

Recitatif

The picture I picked was matching two girl as salt and pepper. :) It is cute picture.

This story talked about two girl went to orphan house for a while. All through the story, I was confused which one is black and white. Until at end, Twyla is black and Roberta is white. Both of girls go orphan house for several times because their mothers is not good to care them. Maybe their mothers are widow and can’t keep her child while she sick.
Both of girls are true hateful each other but they have to friend with togther because they are roommate to teach them. But, Tawya do rebel for their own school for racial right with her son. Roberta was not complain about this because she is rich with her “IBM” husband. I was knowing “IBM” was old word for computer with black screen. The computer with black screen and orange fonts was scaring me out and could wash our mind to stare it. She was ego all her life that she was teaseing Twyla while Twyla worked at store. That she was back up the star gossip.
Seem that time was happen after Martin Lutin King gave a speech because everyone get along but still stiff with black. They have get rid the sign of “color “ or “white.” Twyla and Roberta went to orphan househ which have lot of black with white people. I guess they already change but still threat the color people. The time is changed.
At end, Twyla’s mother is Maggie. I thought her mother is Mary because she run and hug during she was in orphan house. She ate jellybeans in the ground with her mother because she forgot to bring the food. How selfish of orphans home. They didn’t give a shared food. I checked the website which it was confused. That Maggie was from beginning that she fall in orchard. She is deaf because she cant hear the scream or cried the help.
This story really made me confused because it make me read the better modern English instead old weird English language.

It remind me as Elizabeth Eckford that everyone was pissed off black girl enter white school during 1957. Same thing Roberta and Tawya feel same way from Elixabeth. Because Roberta went to most black orphan. Tawya was threat the school that they don’t have right for black kids.

Little Saigon by David St. John and Zelzah: A Tale From Long Ago By Norma Fox Mazer

I know Asian have thousand and thousand stories and idioms because Asian lived 6,000 years. They wrote many stories to teach the lesson. I hear a stories from woman who comes from China and Gallaudet student. She told us true story that one of Chinese village don’t have any food. Teacher draw the bread picture on the black board to make children to see a food. Teacher erased the part of bread and told the children chew the bread to play with their brain. After that, they felt full from ghost bread. I was touchy her story. I started to fall in Chinese and Asian stories and idiom.
ohh what is Saigon for? It is city of Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. Saigon is old name for the city. Are they leaving their country go America? I think so.
In Saigon story, it was little confused because it is poetry all thought the all story. I know she move to America but become orphan. She moved France. She moved twice in big time. From Korean, America and at last is at Paris, France. She have learning a different language as Zelzah have learn English from Polish language.
My first though, that she live in somewhere in Asia because girl’s name until I read “Jacob”, “Anna” or “Sarah”. I was feeling that is not Asian name. I found out it is in Poland. I can see Poland can be poor that family has to sleep in one bed with 6 people in it. They already used it but I bet it already annoying to feel squeeze or poke in her in sleeping. Zelzah’s family is weird because her sisters have a weird personality each. Cripple, princess, “must to be fairness’, and other is in her family. I thought Anna do have OCD because she do follow the parents told her to clean as always. At the time, she didn’t get a duty then she will stare at dirty thing for a hour or more. It was overwhelmed me when I read this paragraph.
Last paragraph, Zelzah is happy because she not have a worry to find a husband and becoming successful. She is teacher and students are her children. She do have a heart in her students.
Both stories talk about go America to leave their beloved country but they have to move for a reason like finding a husband

On the Rainy River and The Setting Sun and the Rolling World

On the Rainy River by Tim O’Brien and The Setting Sun and the Rolling World by Charles Mungoshi. I chose this picture when i saw it that i want to swim in this lake as Tim O'Brien went in the lake. Right now I go back my home, California which is warmer than DC that you can still swim in beach or pool.
Tim O’Brien wrote it was very emotional because he explains a detail and his tone was frustrate. I can understand his feeling as it was happen me in few weeks ago. I wanted to know answer form future and know happen if I do it something. Sometime I wish life have “save” and “load” as Playstation game do have a save and load to get game over to get without mistake. Our life doesn’t have it that you have to move on and careful. Our life has one change to life. It is tough as Tim worried that he will die in war that one change to life. Later, he flashed back and forward that he will wonderful life as his dream answer. He will have a wonderful family. So, he went back his home and fights the war for himself. Other story, The Setting Sun and the Rolling World is opposite of the story way. Old Musoni’s son named Namho who is stubborn and thinking himself and life. Old musoni was hoping his son wills stay his home to work and watch his farm and home after he was become older and cant work anymore. He was disappoint in his son that he want to leave home to journey to find a new life. He gave up and let him go to learn a mistake. Son was thinking it all two months but Tim O’Brien leave last minutes but he did want to escape from America to avoid the draft for war. Namho took a time to leave the home. The Setting Sun and the Rolling World was pointless for me to tell me a story. I know it was cutting off lot of part of the story. Leaving home chose the part as his son leave home. I understand Musoni want to keep a traditional and not allow people invade the new culture in his family.
I knew it was Chinese story that their stories have a famous lesson in all stories come from Chinese. As you see Chinese art somewhere, it do have a story behind it and lesson. Art and story is same.

Trip in a Summer Dress and Beautiful and Cruel

Trip in a Summer Dress and Beautiful and Cruel is talking about baby. That Sandra’s sister has a baby during she is young as Annette Sanford. Sandra’s sister and Annette don’t have a husband while they born baby. Both of stories talk about Love and baby. But Trip in a Summer Dress talked about she missed her son but she is already lying to her future husband about she don’t have a baby.
I was feeling why she did lie to his future husband but she will have lie in her rest of the life. Her son will be cry to see her gone as redbird. Left her son with grandma without real father. He will be very miserable for this. Good thing she will go back her son at end. Because she see child wait for her mother will be back.
Powerful one ugly and feminism Sandra can wait to find a husband not like her sister who hurry to get a baby. I was ugly one as Sandra Cisneros. She is author of A House of my Own. This poem was my midterm paper. Perfect one for me to get know her. ☺ No wonder she don’t have a man in her house that she was ugly and effect by her sister taught her wrong way. So she won’t get a husband or having a baby as her sister made a mistake.
I feel I want to say it that I feel to belong this Sandra Cisneros with my life. I was having buckteeth and big glasses, which is old fashion. My clothes were not very fashion and tomboy because my mom is tomboy. Never go mall until I was 11 years old, I shopped on my own money to buy better clothes. I remember I am easily falling in love because I did chase the boy that I like when I was five years old. But funny, my sister and I did chased same boy. It is Mark Korn. I still have this bad habit. I am sure I will change as today Sandra Ciserco who not has a interesting in man. She and I are very positive but I am same as her sister. But I don’t going to have baby, I rather after I married
All stories are all together mean is love in family. ☺ Their life will get better when they grew up. In the story, both of girls are too young to think about see the forward future.

All Language is BIAS!

I read article “English is Androcentric” by Lowe, M and Graham, B. I can’t believe Androcentric didn’t in the dictionary that I was looking for it to define it. I hope it add word in dictionary someday. In article, Androcentric mean “It means it has a built-in bias towards men.”
This theme is true bias that man wrote the dictionary and vocabulary. For example in article, “Womanly” is listed under “weakness”, and “man’ and ‘he’ are used to mean everyone or everyone even though half of us female. Men have a power to write and their thinking is in dictionary. It is hard to be innocent in the word. They have an effect during they grew up and look at the people. Historically, woman not been to be “people with the power.”
It is biased by human’s behavior effect by racism, sexism, audism and more. You can check in thesaurus under white and black. The black is more negative than white’s. White has about 20 words for “white” people, but black have 72 words which are over ahead the white words. One topic is hit me about Mr. and Mrs. Mrs. still have gentlemen in it “Mr.” with s. Mrs. have real define that it is “man’s property” or “ownership by man” It was turn me off because I was feeling giving for my man. In my life, I won’t change my last name because I really love my last name Castle.
I was disappointed when I read the article that I don’t realized the language is biased. Few people and people who did read the article knew about biased. I felt like we need make a short movie about language. It will be wonderful effect on the people. It is still biased by media biased. To get people see our language is sensitive to make a negative in the people.
We need to have a politic correct without insult. For example, hearing think deaf is insult. So they used impaired hearing more formally. In deaf community, they think impaired hearing is insult because they think we are “sick” that we can’t hear. We felt proud to be deaf without pity can’t hear.
Many linguists think language is interdependent. People think different way of define in the word. Which is louder in “scream” or “shout”? People have own thinking in the word. Some people think it is big deal or cheap deal. People do use word to trick people like fun size mean small, man-made mean fake and farm fresh mean battery farmed. It called Euphemisms. Euphemism mean words that present their unpleasant subject in a favourable light.
There languages are not having a neutral language in the world. Biased is existed in the world. We can’t remove it unless it turned old fashion or dead word that we never use it.

Rubbish

Tim wrote about dawn that is Goth girl that he met her in the bus. I won’t summary this story because everyone read it. When I read the story, I thought that he will meet Dawn again at end. I was wrong that he remembered her. I hope he met her by accident in future.
Dawn is stupid because she not put her phone number to meet again. They will be wonderful couples because it is so wild dating and keep love alive. Is he married during he wrote the story? I hope so.
Tim reminded me that I hate to be sit by stranger but I didn’t judge on the people. I just hate to be bother, move too much and take all my side. I always pick person who like I can trust that she/he not sloppy during the travel on the bus, airplane and other.
Little boy met awesome Goth girl who have amazing inside personality. He doesn’t recognize it until end of the book and part of the paragraph. She has a sweet and understandable because she wrote cute letter in the peace music cassette. She is very opposite to have peace music instead punk music.
“Oh Rubbish!” many time what he said it s nothing new word come from guy. He has a limited vocabulary.
At end, I was confused that Tim’s mom leave. I was thinking which is she died or divorced. But his father only said she leave the home and abandon the family. It is horrible. She should think twice about her son and explain him why she leave. I will kill for this without aware of the trouble in between parents. I am sure Tim wont explain deeply because he is just disappoint in his mother leave that he wrote short but he remembered irony and sweet memory in the bus with Goth girl. Goth girl make a miracle to make cheer up for Tim and Tim’s father by the surprised note and cassette.
The tone in the story was slow and thoughtful about this girl and mom. It is good story but still part is not explain clear because it is some skip the information that I will like to know. Like what is his first think of Dawn to be Goth or punk girl instead other people on the seat? Why he go to grandma’s during Christmas eve? It is odd for me. To sent his son then next day his parents arrived. Ugh why not he stay with his parents on Christmas?
